ADI Launches New Back-End Manufacturing Facility In Thailand

Analog Devices (ADI) has opened a new advanced back-end manufacturing facility in Thailand, upgrading its local operations from a test-focused site to a more integrated production base covering wafer-level processing and chip-scale packaging (CSP).

ADI stated that the new factory was officially opened in Chonburi, Thailand, in March this year.The base will undertake wafer-level processing, CSP packaging and final integrated circuit testing.ADI Chairman and CEO Vincent Roche pointed out that Thailand is a strategic hub in the company's global manufacturing network.

ADI's Thai subsidiary (ADTH) was established in 2000 and previously focused on testing business.The new factory expands its capabilities from single testing to a more complete back-end manufacturing process by in-building some of the packaging processes.

Currently, ADI has a packaging and testing factory in General Trias, Philippines, and operates another testing base in Penang, Malaysia.

In terms of front-end manufacturing, ADI also owns multiple wafer fabs, including Beaverton, Oregon, Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Camas, Washington, in the United States, as well as a factory in Limerick, Ireland. These are all 200mm and below wafer fabs.For the more advanced 300mm process, ADI relies on external foundries, such as Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing, a subsidiary of TSMC in Japan.
